The documents you prepare for a Skimmer should:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n \t<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n \t<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n \t<li>State the main point clearly and up front<\/li>\n \t<li>Place the most important information at the beginning or ending of sentences and paragraphs<\/li>\n \t<li>Highlight key dates or figures<\/li>\n \t<li>Create an easy-to-navigate document that uses design effectively (headings and subheadings, white space, bullet points, numbered lists, bold text, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">EXAMPLE: <\/span><\/strong>Both of the following examples represent the same experiences, but note the differences in language and layout:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 120px\"><span style=\"color: #008000\">Example 1:<\/span> For the last several years, in my most recent position as Purchasing Manager, I am responsible for the oversight of $100,000 in project accounts. Additionally, I manage a team of four other buyers. I provide regular training seminars, including an in-office bi-monthly team-building session. Skeptical readers (such as your instructor or supervisor) tend to read documents thoroughly, questioning the writer's claims and evaluating the work's validity. In a professional setting, you will often write for a more complex audience of people with different backgrounds, specialties, and expectations.
